Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Pierre Loti ou l’âme voyageuse – Cyrille Diatkine (2009) – Pink
VENDU
Behold, a graphic masterpiece! Issued once and only once, in Spring 2009, the "Pierre Loti ou l’âme voyageuse" scarf (Pierre Loti or the Travelling Soul) is signed by Cyrille Diatkine. It is a vibrant tribute to the writer-traveller and naval officer Pierre Loti (whose real name was Julien Viaud), treated as a high-voltage Pop Art collage.
On an electric Fuchsia and Orange ground, the artist unfolds a collage of the author's life: memories of Istanbul, fantasies of Japan, Egyptian statues and exotic silhouettes overlap in an ultra-modern style. This is an absolute collector's piece. New condition, with box. See the black version of this scarf.

A word from Diane
This scarf is a visual bombshell. Diatkine has managed to capture the eccentricity of Pierre Loti (who loved to dress up and immerse himself in other cultures) through this prism of saturated, Andy Warhol-style colours. It is the "Anti-Boring" scarf par excellence. Wear it boldly: over a total black or total white look, it becomes the centre of attention. Finding it in this new condition with its box is a miracle for collectors looking for the House's "Arty" pieces. See the black version of this scarf.
From the booklet accompanying the scarf, Spring 2009: "This scarf revisits the epic of Pierre Loti and his insatiable thirst for elsewhere... A multitude of images gave birth to this scarf, a kind of puzzle bringing together the many facets of the writer's life: the young soldier, the Turkish dandy, the eccentric orientalist... The scarf becomes an exotic travel journal in which we find this famous sentence: 'Oh, how pleasant it is here, but how harmful is this desire that seizes me, always wanting to leave again.'"
